COP Workshop

We conducted a workshop for all Signatories and Participants on the 12th of October 2018 at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the session was to provide guidance and support on preparing and submitting their annual Communication on Progress (COP).

We made use of the session to provide an introduction to the Global Compact and its functions and educate all members about the Ten Principles of the Global Compact that all companies have made a commitment to align themselves to.

We discussed the importance of a COP and explored the various components of the COP. We also emphasized on the importance of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in reporting and further explored the SDG Compass and other supporting material that aim to support business in SDG reporting.

With the support of our partner, DNV GL, we discussed how the GRI Standard can be integrated in sustainability reporting. Rathika De Silva, Country Head of DNV GL and Board Member of the UNGC, conducted a brief session on GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).

The session was conducted by Amanthi Perera, Network Contact Person, and Azam Bakeer Markar, Network Representative. Yasangi Randeni, Assistant Manager – Sustainability of Aitken Spence PLC, a practitioner of GRI Reporting, together with Rathika De Silva, joined the Q&A session to clarify doubts and share their expertise on corporate reporting.
