Sustainable Supply Chain Working Group

The food supply chain is an increasingly recognized component of corporate sustainability. It is vital for the management of environmental, social, and economic impacts and the encouragement of good governance. It is also crucial for contemporary agriculture in Sri Lanka. Its development is necessary for satisfying consumer’s and farmer’s demands. In other words, the supply chain or value chain—is an important mechanism, which enables food security and rural development. No one organization or person can achieve these goals alone; everyone has a role to play in ensuring nutritious food is available for all. There are three key principles for a successful supply chain sustainability management—governance, transparency, and engagement.
