Business & Human Rights Working Group

The Business and Human Rights Working Group recognizes the corporate responsibility to uphold and respect human rights, as set out in the United Nations Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). Predicated on the UNGPs, members strive towards meeting a global standard of human rights by having in place internal policies and processes which address adverse human rights impacts through prevention, mitigation and remediation measures. The working group equips members to design organizational human rights policies and establish due diligence processes which are appropriate to their size and circumstances. For example, training programmes are conducted by specialists in the field of business and human rights and due diligence, to provide customised guidance for organizations on how to improve human rights in the workplace. In addition, members benefit from webinars in which both local and international experts in the field share best practices that have been successful in integrating human rights considerations into organizational operations and activities.

Ms. Darshi Talpahewa, the Head of Group Human Resources, Legal Services, Security and Corporate Communications & Sustainability, is the Board Member in-charge of this initiative.
